What types of silica gel are available in bulk?

Where and how to use bulk silica gel

If you need to protect against damage like corrosion and mould caused by moisture and wetness when processing, storing or transporting goods, bulk silica gel is a good option. Silica gel in bulk works well in the static drying of air and gases. It’s a common choice in industrial drying plants, for laboratory equipment, compressed air drying, and in pressure equalisation tanks. Silica gel consists of hard, glassy beads of silicon dioxide. Their extensive inner surface means they can absorb a large amount of water. Silica gel adsorbs water molecules. The water does not change in structure, and can be released again during regeneration.

Handling loose silica gel is simple and easily tailored to your needs. The desired amount of silica gel is placed in the closed area to be dried. It can be distributed either loose or in additional containers. Silica gel is regenerable, making it a more sustainable choice. Silica gel regeneration is carried out by heating in an oven at 100-150 °C.

Silica Gel Orange – self-indicating

The orange beads of Silica Gel Orange will turn green when the water content rises above approximately six per cent. As the saturation levels of the desiccant increase, the green will become more intense. When completely saturated, the beeds will have turned from orange to green and eventually a deep bluish-green. There’s no need to weigh Silica Gel Orange to check the saturation level.
